Research details

Areas of research interest

CJC-1295 with DAC is studied as a long-acting stimulator of the body's own growth hormone release. Research interest covers sustained GH and IGF-1 elevation, growth hormone deficiency, and age-related GH decline. It is not approved by FDA for any use.

Overview

CJC-1295 with DAC is a modified analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH 1-29) attached to a Drug Affinity Complex. After injection, the DAC group binds to circulating albumin, which greatly extends the peptide's half-life compared with native GHRH.

Research summary

Healthy adults. In two randomized, placebo-controlled trials in adults aged 21 to 61, a single injection raised mean GH levels 2- to 10-fold for 6 days or more and IGF-1 levels 1.5- to 3-fold for 9 to 11 days [1]. The estimated half-life was 5.8 to 8.1 days, and repeated doses kept IGF-1 above baseline for up to 28 days [1].

GH pulsatility. A follow-up study found that natural pulsatile GH secretion persisted during continuous stimulation, with trough GH levels rising 7.5-fold and IGF-1 rising 45% one week after a single injection [2].

Animal growth. Daily CJC-1295 normalized growth in mice lacking their own GHRH [3].
